talenthouse competition

DUDES--about that talenthouse thing...people that know i entered are asking ME what's going on;
so...what's going on?
i figure your readers have all put guns in their mouths after reading fifty or sixty really stinky scripts
while cranked tight on red bull and marlboros--
and six and a half hundred entries overwhelmed your collective asses-- am'i right?
fifty-four hours of five minute reads without stopping to piss, well that's inhumane.
own it and say so. your readers flaked.
let's move on with the program.
call me; we'll do lunch.
:lol:

talenthouse, fewdio, scripped
no notice of a winner yet;
these things are always slow
and usually disorganized ;
there are six and a half hundred entries--that's something over fifty-four hours of reading, a significant effort that no doubt surprised fewdio.
view your entry as a self-test, an opportunity to practice your craft,
a broad exposure of screenwriting abilities
[read as many of the scripts as you can]
and a learning exercise.
expect nothing else from it
and you're unlikely to be disappointed.
keep writing.

# Write a short horror film for Fewdio.com
# From: Fewdio.com
# Incentive: Have the chance of getting your horror script produced
#
We are looking for writers to submit the script for scariest short film of all time! If you are up to the challenge, and you are able to scare the hell out of the horror film community, Fewdio will produce your script as a short film.

The short will be shot in the first quarter of 2010 and released through Fewdio's online outlets as well as on their NIGHTMARE HOUSE DVD series.

The story should be no more than 5 pages long, equal to a 5 minute film and submitted in PDF format. You will have the opportunity to submit your short film scripts until February 2, 2010.

The Talenthouse community will be able to read and vote upon all submissions starting February 3rd, 2010 and the horror experts at Fewdio will determine the final selection and choose the script they'll produce in 2010.

This is a project in cooperation with Scripped.com

[chirp]
[chirp-chirp]
y'know, i've heard if you count the number of times a cricket chirps in a minute
and multiply it by five-eighths
and subtract thirty-two
and divide it by the number of sunspots visible at noon
you can get the temperature...
so, i hear crickets in here, but nothing about screenplay competitions at talenthouse;
tick-tock, tick-tock, time passes,
first quarter's two-thirds gone...

We recently teamed up with the horror experts at FEWDIO and script writer community Scripped.com to give aspiring writers the opportunity to scare the hell out of the horror film community.

“We were very excited to work with Talenthouse because FEWDIO was founded as a collaborative endeavor. Talenthouse has given us a great opportunity to connect with other like-minded artists on a much larger scale, in a more global community. We have really enjoyed meeting people who appreciate what we do, many of whom are incredibly talented artists themselves and as a result, we have become mutual fans.”

With well over 300 submissions making it into the semi-finals, both Talenthouse and FEWDIO were impressed by the quality of scripts entered in the contest and we are all pleased to announce Ashley Maniw from Toronto as the winner!

“There were a number of criteria that we kept in mind while reading: the budget / challenge of production, whether the tone fits our ‘Nightmare House’ anthology series, and – of course – the quality of the storytelling. Ashley’s ‘Firsts’ scored high across the board.”

Ashley has been writing and telling stories since her childhood and recently graduated from York University with an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Creative Writing, with a focus on screenwriting.

“I heard about the contest through an email I got from Scripped.com. Since I was already working on a couple of shorts at the time, I thought it’d be a great opportunity and a motivator for me to write something new. When I found out that I won, I was very grateful and really, really excited. “

The FEWDIO team, a partnership between 6 writers, directors, producers, actors, and executives (Marshall Carr, John Crye, Paul Hungerford, David Schneider, Todd A. Sharp, and Kirk B.R. Woller), will work directly with Ashley to put her winning script into production in the next couple of weeks and probably debut the short at an upcoming film festival.
